What’s a spa without candles to make the ambiance more relaxing? Featured here is the Uttermost Accessories Gilded Bath Prints that come in sets of 2.
While vacations away from the comforts of your home can be really fun, they may not always be that relaxing. And what’s the best time that you can do your vacay, two or three weeks? But what if you can design your home so that it becomes just as relaxing (if not even more relaxing) than the average spa?
A Homey Alternative
Here’s an alternative for you – a mini spa right in your own home. There is no need to drive anywhere far or even to spend an awful lot of money just to enjoy many relaxing days.
All it requires is a bit of planning and the full cooperation of your family members and you should be able to experience relaxation and pampering the way you should.
Achieve a Relaxing Effect
To begin, you need to pick a day when you could have your home just to yourself. If there are small kids, then you might want to ask the help of your partner, spouse or any trusted person to take them away for a few hours. They could go to the park or to the mall, even a relative’s house would do.
As soon as you’ve already set the date, plan what you would want to do during your spa time. For instance, you could shop for bath products and enjoy them once you go home. You can also prepare a special meal just for you.
The week before your assigned spa day, take note that you need to clean up and declutter all the rooms in your home. Spend time doing this because you will feel the benefits during that day. Imagine zero clutter and shiny floors on that day – divine!
Sweet Dreams Are Made of Fresh Sheets
Have you noticed how the spa resorts seem to have the cleanest sheets all the time? Well, it’s time to replicate that. Go to your storage cabinets and bring out fresh sheets for your spa day (or week).
You can also prepare simple meals and have them presented beautifully. The appreciation and nods of approval will surely make you feel special so if you love cooking and if this activity relaxes you, then by all means, do it.
Move About
Yes. A huge part of feeling great is having a surge of endorphins running through your system. A simple morning workout can become a regular exercise regimen by the end of the week.
If you’re currently not into the habit of exercising, then you could turn on the TV and – not watch but – find an exercise program that you can follow. Go ahead and stretch your arms and legs as your TV fitness friends guide you.
You can also raise your heartbeat by riding a bike to a nearby park or by simply stretching your arms and legs as you wake up in the morning.
Shower and Refresh
After exercising, yet another relaxing thing to do is to take a quick, cool shower. And while you’re in the bathroom, you might as well enjoy some of the spa treatments such as aromatherapy and water massage.
Exfoliate with a body scrub using a bath mitt. Condition your hair and don’t hesitate to soak in the tub that’s been fortified with scented bath oils.
Let Nature Heal You
It is said that Mother Nature is one of the best healers. Since this is so, you might also want to spend a bit of time outdoors. Do this before the sun gets too hot. Walk around your garden or a nearby park.
Be where the green things are and be sure to breathe in the fresh air in the process.

Contrast the starkness of white and this 1586-10458-GRY1 Note-To-Self Writing Desk 1586-75410D-GLD6 Swanson Upholstered Metal Side Chair with gold accents, the wooden desk and a vase of colorful roses.
The world that we now live in is a fast-paced one; because of this, it’s crucial that people slow down, take the time to relax, and unwind. People who are constantly on the go as they attend to their jobs, do grocery shopping and go about with mundane things are the very people that need a place of refuge. The great news is that they don’t have to travel far in order to get their much-needed rest. If all would only know how to set it up, their home could actually be a place of relaxation.
Boosting the Mood in Your Home
Upping the positivity in your home is as easy as choosing the right paint colors. There are just three primary colors to begin with but there are literally millions of mixtures to choose from. Yet if you know which color to look for, it would be easy to find the right texture that should go with it.
The creation of a sanctuary in your home begins with the obvious places – the bedroom and the bathroom. You begin and end your day in these rooms so, before you set out to have them painted in relaxing colors, make sure that you take away the clutter first.
After decluttering, you’re now free to choose from the soothing hues of bedroom palettes. Think of sea-glass green or celestial blue. Any of the two could work as the main color of your walls. If you want something different, mix in a pleasing hue and watch your experiment unfold.
White linens are classic and clean yet colorful pillows would make the bedroom much more interesting. Remember to keep the room clutter-free so that stress relief would be a breeze.
It might come as a challenge to come up with a painting project when it comes to the bathroom that has one tiny window or has none at all. Should this be the case in your home, be sure to look for colors that will lighten the mood up. Choose two to three shades of your favorite hues then use the darkest shade sparingly. The darkest colors should always go at the bottom part of the room then as you work your way up, be sure to have a lighter color. Doing so should open up the room, making it appear expansive and seemingly filled with light.
Take out the stress of choosing paint colors for the bathroom by taking hues from your tiles. You can use the same shade on your cabinet door. Navy blue paired with a lot of white will look highly dashing.
Calm Also Means Homey
If the cool color palettes discussed above don’t seem appealing to you, then it’s time to look into the warmer palette. This set of colors possesses the earthiness and sincerity that you need to achieve a relaxed vibe.
Make the headboard as the focal point in your bedroom by covering it with a textured material or an interesting color.
Make sure to contrast warm hues with a soothing color such as light gray. Use the light color on the three walls accompanying the accent wall or headboard.
Standard Calm Colors
Soothing colors needn’t be limited to wispy hues. Just be extra careful in using bolder hues, though. Use those that are on the cooler side of your color wheel. This means sticking to the ever reliable shades of greens, purples and blues. Pink is also another color that can help bring peace and calm in a room. Feng Shui practitioners use this hue to soothe the energy inside a room.
Of course, you can always hype the palette by adding a small accent of any warm hue such as a dash of yellow green accessory, art or accent area.

FFDM’s Brentwood Collection depicted here the perfect relaxation/reading nook inside a typical bedroom.
One of the most cherished moments in every person’s life is that so-called alone time or me time. Most people nowadays don’t have much time in their hands so they feel that they deserve a quiet moment every now and then. Just as healthy eating and regular exercise are both important for a sound mind; relaxation is just as crucial. Your alone time can help you reflect and meditate so you can rejuvenate your mind for the next days.
Your Private Getaway
Indeed, no man can be truly autonomous. Sure, no man is an island, but creating your own meditation space can nourish deep thinking. It encourages you to think independently at the moment. There are, after all, thought processes that are better carried out when you are on your own.
Your private sanctuary is an amazing place to do that. There is no anxiety there and no desire to feel the companionship of anyone.
Time to Reboot
Always being on the go or being up on your toes can be exhausting. You will eventually come to a point when you’ll feel burnt out.
Taking some time to replenish in a quiet environment should decrease stimulation and stress. Remove any kind of distraction inside this special room (or nook) such as TV or any kind of gadget. Having these interruptions remove will improve the quality of rest that you will get from this private place.
Regenerating your spirit will be easy if you know how to set up your me space. This intimate space should allow you to flush out your mental clutter and even discover answers to certain problems.
Just as you would do in any ritual such as eating, exercising or even bathing, you must take time to regenerate. You need to be in touch with your inner self and this can happen when you physically pull away from the daily grind.
So what sort of interior design elements should you bring into this room? Since it is going to be a sanctuary, make sure that you choose the correct wall color to begin with. Pick from the cool color palettes. Available to use are pastels and other light hues such as powder blue, light green, muted yellow, and light pink. Veer away from glaring colors as these will only stimulate you to be more active rather than restful.

Still from FFDM’s Brentwood Collection, this furniture ensemble is the best spot to read and relax.11
“Me” Space Requirements
Life is already a rollercoaster ride so hold your horses and take the time to bring in some furniture pieces that can help you relax. A recliner could be a great solution for some; most prefer to set up a nook where they could read and ponder over their lives, though. The recliner could evoke sleepiness which is not what you would want during this moment. While you want to be relaxed, you wouldn’t want to fall asleep, though. Your goal is to rejuvenate through correct meditation.
This space can be no more than a nook in your bedroom or any less busy part of your home.
Your me space can also be your reading corner so it can be placed inside a home library or a quiet home office. What every reading corner needs are a small side table (enough to hold a book, lamp, your eyeglasses, and a pen). This lovely table can be matched with an equally lovely chair. For your comfort, you can invest in a cushioned chair so your reading or me moments would become more relaxing.
Lighting is an important element to consider when setting up your me space. Make sure that the light isn’t installed behind you as this will cause shadows to be formed right into that novel that you will peruse later on.
Life can be happy, sad, even challenging most of the time. Now that you have your me space, you can now refuel to take on even the toughest challenges that life would throw your way.
