Canadel Kitchen Island ISL4836-T8
If you have long dreamt of a kitchen remodel, then this year, this could be the right project for you. It’s 2018, and it’s time to know that not all kitchen remodels involve toppling down walls or rerouting your electrical frameworks. It also does not mean that you have to make do with mere wallpaper replacement.
Even if you don’t do these huge reconfiguring projects, know that there are so many things that you can do to improve the look of your kitchen this year.
The $100 Kitchen Remodel
This all begins by changing the wall color. Kitchens often have limited wall space which equates to you not spending a lot to repaint it with the color that you want. May we just remind you that Pantone’s Color of the Year if Ultra Violet which is a delicious shade of purple.
If you won’t even hire someone to do the painting job for you, then your only expense will be that gallon of paint and some essential painting supplies.
The $300 Kitchen Project
With $200 extra budget, you can now go alter the art print as well as shop for a new lighting fixture. You can now add these to your wall painting project. A swap for a lighting fixture that looks tired can make that much-needed change in your kitchen.
If you still have ample budget left, then replace the rest of your kitchen lights or pour it all on that fancier pendant light above your kitchen island.

The $500 Kitchen Look
At this budget, you can afford to alter the paint, hang your choice of art, get some new lighting, and even add a shelf or two. It’s up to you to choose between closed or open shelves – each has its own set of fans.
Providing ample storage changes the way your dishes and other kitchen accessories would be displayed, hence, it improves the overall aesthetics of your kitchen.
The $700 Kitchen Appearance
After all the said changes, you can also consider adding more budget so you can have a new faucet. Kitchen faucet replacements cost less than replacing the entire sink. Get something metallic instead of plastic for your replacement faucets.
The Thousand Dollar Kitchen Style
If you have $1,000 to spend, you can seriously think of updating the look of your kitchen sink. This is the perfect way to cap your new paint, brand new lighting fixtures, art, and accessories. If the new sink looks different from the old one, then make room for adjustments on your counter and cabinetry.
The $1,500 Kitchen Fashion
Now, you can go ahead and have your kitchen painted, installed with new lighting, invest in new shelves, add a sink, and even change the details on your cabinets such as new pulls and knobs. Don’t just repaint the doors of old cabinets. Perhaps, this year is the perfect time to finally replace them.
The $5,000 Kitchen Makeover
Along with furniture, lighting, and other fixture updates, you can now make greater impact in your kitchen. There are many options for kitchen counter materials. Consider having a butcher block with marble. Take the time to hunt around for the great-looking counter that will totally alter the look of your kitchen this year.
The $10,000 Kitchen Extravaganza
With all the wonderful additions already mentioned, what more can you do to make your kitchen remodel the most appealing project for you this year?
With more room in your budget, you can now go ahead and add new appliances and furniture sets. Avoid installation costs by selecting appliances that would fit the same spaces where your old ones used to sit.

Compact is the name of the game when choosing furniture for a small kitchen/dining area. Featured furniture set is the Hooker Furniture Dining Room Indigo Creek Pedestal Dining Table and chairs.
Dreaming about the perfect kitchen often does not involve the word – small or compact. This is the reality that most homeowners have to live with, though. There is that limited counter space as well as a work triangle that hardly fits into the kitchen floor area. If you are not ready to knock down walls, then you can just go to the next best solution – design your kitchen correctly.
Glass vs. Solid Wood Cabinet Doors
What you would want to achieve now is an illusion of space, right? So, what better material is there than glass?
Glass cabinet doors visually lighten the cabinets which allows the beholder’s eyes to travel to the back of the furniture. This will visually expand the kitchen for as long as there aren’t too many knickknacks inside the cabinet. Having a lot of stuff cramped into a glass front cabinet will only defeat its purpose.
Limit the color of the walls and your cabinets to just a single hue. This is a technique that gets rid of visual boundaries. This liberates the eyes using the popular notion that light colors reflect light. The kitchen space will feel a lot bigger since the light is reflected off both surfaces (the walls and the cabinetry).Same Old, Same Old
Don’t think that you are only limited to light hues, though. You can still dare to use dark colors such navy blue, black, chocolate and charcoal. These deep tones have a tendency to create the impression that your kitchen walls are actually farther back (receding effect).
Petite Is In
Since you have limited space for your kitchen, you must opt for furnishings with small footprint. Find petite chairs, islands, stools and narrow tables. Say no to bulky furniture with thick bases and curvy legs. These styles, while beautiful when used in a different setting, would add to the visual bulk in your compact kitchen.
Recessed Storage
Tuck that pantry. Have the slimmest possible cabinets and shelves. This is the best way to keep from obstructing the flow inside the kitchen. It is actually easy to retrofit recessed niches, more so if you put it between the wall studs.
Use Clean Lines
Ornate cabinetry and other furniture with fussy details are a no-no in your kitchen. Make sure that the elements used are sleek and tailored. This will smoothen out the general look of your kitchen. Straight lines also stage a roomier feel.
Say yes to open shelving. These can significantly reduce the visual weight and even lend the illusion of a wider space.
You can also merge different nooks into a whole food prep and dining area. If there are still sections in your small kitchen that are separated by low walls, then have those broken down. Make the dining space a natural extension to your cooking area.

Storage is just as important (if not more so) inside a small kitchen. This Stanley Furniture Dining Room Buffet 007-21-05 is suitable as a storage and decorative unit.
Unify
You may have just a few pieces of sleek furniture but make sure they harmonize. Have the same furniture pieces in the same hue. If you can extend your chosen color to the wall, then that would be a nice move. Matching armchairs and other furniture –even when a tad bulkier – could still fit into this kind of setup.
Have a bench mimic the color of the dining chairs to have a sense of continuity in the area. This is if you decide to include the dining space into your small kitchen.
It could be a bit tricky to demarcate areas between two nooks but you can effortlessly do this if you use an area rug. Instead of the usual colossal walls, the humble area rug will be able to distinguish different zones for you.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Lastly, what is a small kitchen without a huge mirror? No other decorative element has been used to create the illusion of space more than mirrors so make sure you install one (or more). The framing should be blond wood or other neutral colors so it will perfectly blend with the light-colored walls.

Hooker Furniture Living Room North Hampton Bonnet Top Display Cabinet. Organization is key to a beautiful and functional kitchen.
Are you a recent graduate who wants to move into your own apartment soon? Or are you a newlywed settling in your first home? Whatever your current situation, you will need some recipes and the right kind of kitchen equipment to start this new phase in your life.
Take a long look at your parents’ kitchen and see if you can do some window shopping in houseware shops. This should help you make a list of essentials that are needed for prepping, baking, or cooking the most flavorful dishes.
You might be tempted to buy new products straight away but you don’t have to break the bank just to obtain quality in your kitchen stuff. You can search for different pieces that offer durability, value and beauty.
Cooking and Baking Tools
You can splurge on your set of knives. Yeah, go ahead, it’s okay. It is essential to have a sharp chef’s knife inside your kitchen. This is one of the major tools that you need to always have. Stainless steel, high-carbon knives won’t stain or rust so they are your best option.
The knife that you buy should feel comfortable in your hand as you slice and dice. Invest also in paring knives, and a serrated knife. The types whose metal blades extend to the back of the handles offer the perfect balance.
Other cooking tools include the cutting board (plastic, glass or wood should work); vegetable peeler (the stainless steel type); can opener (the non-slip type); a salad spinner; cheese grater preferably with soft rubber handles; grater; steamer; etc.
Must-have appliances include a steamer, oven, toaster oven or a microwave oven.
Kitchen furniture
Update your dining/kitchen furniture by investing in McCreery’s Home Furnishings. There is a wide array of chairs, dining tables, bar stools, dining benches, buffets, and kitchen islands to choose from. Gather your family around the table for a scrumptious dinner with your new kitchen furniture. Entertain your guests in style with your new dining room set.
The dining room is no less than the place where you enjoy your meals with friends and family. In order to create the perfect space, it is crucial to invest in the right kind of furniture. Our shops have individual pieces as well as coordinating choices for both casual and formal dining functions.
Dining tables range from rectangular, oval and round styles. Dining chairs can be traditional wood with fabric, leather, or wicker. There are also dining room collections to choose from.
How about the benches? These work in either formal or informal dining. These are often used as extra seating to a dining table. Benches can match the dining chairs or they can be oddly different yet still look cohesive.
Buffets can store extra stemware, dinnerware, and table linens. The sideboards can also be used to display vases, lamps, and other decorative accessories.
Apart from the dining tables, chairs and benches, you can also invest in a kitchen island. These are great for prepping meals. It can also serve as extra countertop for your kitchen. Kitchen carts can also provide extra counter space inside the kitchen. These are smaller than the kitchen island yet they can still provide ample space for storage.
Bar stools are often used for casual seating for guests or family members. There are short and tall stools that you can pair with the kitchen islands.
All kitchen furniture shouldn’t be merely stylish but also durable. Being the foodie that you are, and having invested in these kitchen essentials, all you need now is that first casserole dish to prove that you’re ready to please palates.

What kitchen doesn’t need a cabinet? Hooker Furniture Dining Room Sanctuary Dining Cabinet Hutch is great for eat-in kitchens.
As the old saying goes – the kitchen is the heart of every home. This is the place where birthday cakes are baked (or at least decorated), the turkey is carved, or Christmas dinner is served. This can also be the place where family secrets are spilt. What good can a kitchen do when no kitchen planning has been done, though?
Functional and Aesthetic Kitchen Planning
In every aspect of life, it pays if one has a pertinent plan. This concept is also applicable to building or renovating a kitchen. Kitchens should be practical so you have to plan for that initially. This can be reflected from the breakfast bar to the bin placement down to the practical things and where they are stored.
Kitchen islands that come with bar stools are essentials in all modern kitchens. Called breakfast bars, they are the best way to separate your kitchen from the rest of the living area.
Parents could cook dinner while watching over their kids who are doing their homework. Friends can also visit and enjoy a glass of wine as the host cooks at arm’s length. Adding a breakfast bar to your kitchen should also include an island overhang. This offers ample legroom for those who are seated on the bar stools. About 12 to 19 inches of overhang at the back side of the kitchen island should be comfortable enough.
Next, you need to plan for the placement of the sink and dishwasher. This is essential if you want to avoid dripping grease on your kitchen flooring. Be sure to place the dishwasher at about arm’s length from the sink. This is so when you rinse off excess food from the plates, you can just place them straight away into the dishwasher.
If both are misplaced, then you will have to travel all the way across to the other side of the kitchen. You will then be left with a dirty floor – and, of course, no one enjoys mopping dirty floors.
Properly install the kitchen bin where food scraps will go. It has to be at a place that is most accessible from any point in the kitchen. Place it at the end of the island or bench which is closest to the kitchen door. When placed this way, you can just throw something to the bin when you walk past the kitchen or when you are busy cooking something.
These days, storing the kettle and the toaster on the kitchen bench isn’t the in thing to do anymore. The trend is to hide as many appliances as you can (especially the bulky ones). Cupboards should house your electrical sockets. Install more than one double socket since most homes are using a lot of appliances all at once every day. Just imagine the appliances that you use in the morning – the coffee machine, food processors, toaster, etc. – and you’d be overwhelmed at the number of sockets that you would need.
Lighting is also another important part if kitchen planning. Since this place is prone to accidents, then it is but fitting that it should have ample illumination. Just imagine all the things that could injure you there – from sharp knives, hot plates to the gas stove…
Combine ceiling lights with under cabinet lighting. Pendant lights should also be installed as should down lights. General lighting should be able to illuminate the whole space. All these lights should eliminate any dark shadows in corners.
Consider which part of the kitchen needs the most amount of light. Are you the type that stays up late to entertain guests? Or do you like to cook or bake alone? Whatever kind of kitchen user you are, planning is essential so make time for it.
