The bibliophile does not necessarily have to do her readings in the library. Any voracious reader would agree that the greatest joy is to have a comfy space – even just a corner – where you could curl up and read a book for hours. This has to be a spot that’s free from distraction.
Yet in a world of alarms and alert tones as well as the greatly-reduced boundaries of work and home, having quality time for reading gets more and more difficult. This is a necessity that you have to make room for, though. With this, you can even make better use of your home’s interior spaces whether it’s that unused corner or that extra space by the bay window.
A Spot for Reading
The first step to make is to find the perfect spot for your reading nook. This is any space that has minimal to zero distractions. If you happen to belong to a big family with many roommates, then find a spot that is not the center of your home or the hub of activities.

Whatever it is that will make your reading more comfortable for you should be your seating unit. Of course, you must bear in mind that your back is well-supported and that you can lie back when you need to.
Don’t be pressured to put too many accessories because you won’t need a lot. All you need, in fact, is a comfortable chair, ample lighting, and a small desk where you can place your book and reading glasses.
Find a Proper Desk
What’s the best table to that will support your optimal seating setup? A table is handy because it will hold your book for you once you’re done reading. You don’t even have to get up in order to do so. You will also need a soda or a glass of juice when you’re reading so you need a table surface that minimizes the frustrating cleanups that come with juice spills.

This all depends on your reading style. Are you the type that reads a book from start to finish? Or are you the type that reads two or more books at the same time?

Shelves can house some of the books that you will soon be reading or just your collections from years of reading. Just make sure that the books are also at arm’s length so that you can save time in going to and from that spot.

The best reading light, again, depends on several factors. First, consider your preference. Do you like reading by the window? Then this would mean that you have ample natural light during the day. Consider light distribution – would you like the light to be focused on your book or would it be more important for you to be flooded with light so that you won’t drift to sleep?
Here’s a gauge, when you were younger, say about 10, all you needed was 40 watts or even hardly any light. By the time that you’re 60 or older, you would need 100 watts which is about 1,600 lumens so you can read clearly.

Every voracious reader in the world would understand that one of the most precious things they’d want to have is a peaceful reading nook (for some, they wish for time to read more works). Imagine having all the time in the world to read a good – no, a great – book, seated in a comfortable chair, with a hot mug of cocoa in your hand; what a blissful world it would be.
