A lot of homeowners and interior designers use floral patterns in homes for the simple reason that they are lovely. While they could immediately beautify any space in your home, they could be a bit difficult to implement.

Using floral patterns in an appropriate way is the first step towards creating a unique home. Sure, everyone may be showcasing flower patterns everywhere these days (it’s spring so what could be more apt, right?), but you could emphasize the cutting-edge look that they will envy.

So what’s the secret to a lovely floral abode?

Flowers and Feelings

If you’re ready to make a bold statement this spring, then using florals is one good way to do it. Whether you’re flower shy or boldly ready to use florals, you should understand that displaying this unique pattern will improve your design scheme. Also, floral patterns evoke certain feelings.

Flowers can make anyone happy. They are outside of the usual neutral zone so you are practically picking something that makes you stand out. Being unique from the rest can be a rewarding feeling.

Now imagine pink rose patterns in your living room. These could easily create a romantic, fanciful vibe. If you add a tropical pattern, on the other hand, then you just energized the room or boosted the drama in that area.

If you want a more contemporary feel but would still want to enjoy some florals, then you could have a bold print that’s playful while still being romantic. A huge floral mural would help you achieve this.

This is all about picking the correct floral patterns for you and your home. Be sure to choose the right color, size, and type of flower that will certainly capture your personality as well as the design scheme that you have chosen.

If you want to have a more relaxing vibe that’s perfect for the bedroom, then use medium-sized florals in light and fresh tones. The bigger the floral patterns become, the more energizing they get.

Flowers and Colors

The use of floral patterns also means that you’re ready to increase the hues in your home. These patterns are especially useful when you have a neutral background to begin with.

Color is a wonderful mood booster for your mind and body. This is why the incorporation of floral patterns will add some lovely vibes into your space.

The colors will even introduce other hues that you could work with in your design. You could use any of these colors as accents or as the main hue in your design.

Flowers are Fun

Homeowners do not just want an aesthetically pleasing home. More than any reason, they want to be able to go home to a place that they could enjoy.

Flowers are no less than the perfect addition to a home that captures happiness and peace. Add the correct amount of colors and you even achieve a little playful vibe.

A Little Seasonal Lovin’

You don’ t have to let the floral design become a permanent thing in your home. This could also be a spring design that you could just enjoy for the season or even until summer.

Those temporary color bursts will surely indicate that you’re heading for warmer months, thus, you need to up the happiness in your home. The floral patterns could be introduced through colorful throw pillows or it could be the floral decorative art in the living room.

There are just so many choices to pick from.

Florals Symbolize Nature

With an endless array of inspirations for interior design, flowers are great tools when it comes to recreating the feel of Mother Earth. Surround yourself with these minimal or bold patterns and you will surely feel a happy vibe that’s difficult to ignore.

Decorating Your Home with Flowers

Thursday, August 2nd, 2018

The simplicity of the flower placement gave the needed pop of color in this living room. Featured here is Fine Furniture Design’s Veranda Collection.

What could be a better addition to anyone’s home than a fresh burst of color? Flowers whether displayed in a vase or the potted flowering plant can easily brighten any dull room. They also have the power to add freshness that is difficult to match. Flowers are your go-to element when you’re looking to up the visual appeal of your home.

You can opt for the fresh type or you can also stylishly incorporate faux flowers. There are many unique ways to do it especially when you want the look to last. First, you have to find out which flower choices are best for your home.

There are many flowers that you can even get directly from your garden (that is if you love gardening and flowering plants wow you). Your interiors will surely look great with these leading options –

  • Hydrangeas
  • Gerber daisies
  • Gardina
  • Lilies
  • Alstroemeria
  • Tulips
  • Spray Roses
  • Crasspedia
  • Ranunculuses

Real or Faux: Getting Over the Dilemma

When you’re considering flower décor, your earliest concern could be that choice between faux and fresh flowers. Many homeowners, unsurprisingly, have chosen to combine both. Depending on the project, it is often best to go for the fresh ones but, of course, you have to prepare for maintenance. You will have to change the flowers in those vases every few days.

Real flowers are known to bring warmth to any space. They even have a natural sweet scent so you don’t just increase the level of sophistication in your place, you also make it smell a lot better. Sure, they do not have a long lifespan and they do have a season but they are an amazing choice for a versatile décor on your dining table or the living room’s coffee table.

In adding fresh flowers, just make sure that they are safe and are out of reach of children and pets. Lilies and daffodils are known to be deadly to pets. If you really want to have these flowers in your home, then be sure to keep them in spots where your furry friend won’t be able to go to.

As for artificial or faux flowers, these are your low-maintenance option, however, be sure to look for those that look realistic because it would be awkward to see flowers that look obviously fake. There are certain kinds of faux flowers that look great for interiors. Be sure to match these flowers with the textures and patterns that you have already established in the room.

Be sure to dust off the flowers regularly.

The Floral Wall

How about a little project for you and your family? Flowers on your wall is a perfect addition to a living room, too. Of course, you would want this project to last so you could go for the artificial flowers for this one. You could use a wreath or flower mobile. If you have the skills, you can also use paper flowers as decorative pieces.

Floral Table Pieces

If you want to compliment your dining room or the kitchen, you can create a centerpiece using some fresh flowers. Stray from the norm this time. Instead of the usual vase in the middle of the dining table, why not use soda bottles or pitchers to hold your fresh flowers?

You can also use flowers together with candles for a more romantic setting. Just be sure to practice fire safety. Never put a candle beneath flowers or even near them. A safe way to do both is to light a floating candle and place them in a wide-mouthed glass vase filled with water. You can then place flowers (fake or real) together with the floating candles.

Flowers as Art and Design in Homes

Monday, March 20th, 2017

There are other ways to use florals in your home – display it with furniture as is shown here in this Cynthia Rowley Twin Peak Display Cabinet.

Flowers. They give life and instant color to any home. Apart from providing visual interest, flowers are also known to have health benefits. A Rutgers University study linked flowers and one’s perception of a satisfactory life. Flowers are also believed to increase cheerfulness as they decrease anxiety and depression. So, yes, having flowers or potted plants in your home can improve the positive emotions inside the household.

Buy Locally

If you don’t have a garden to support your weekly need for flowers, it is best that you buy locally. There are many growers across the country so buy your flowers fresh from these local businessmen. You get to support local businesses while you also get to beautify your home.

Let Go of the Leaves

As you intend to put flowers in the vase, you have the option to strip them of their green leaves. This will help keep the water cleaner. If you’re using roses, be sure to cut the stems at an angle so that you get more surface area contact with the water.

Create Spiral Arrangements

On your palm, place a single stem on top of another at an angle. Carefully rotate as you create the arrangement. This spiral is a balanced bouquet that also creates a spiral of greens inside the vase.

Fashion Some Texture

Use berries and foliage in adding texture to plain flowers. Look for flowers that just pop with color as hypericum berries are placed together with them.

Choose the Correct Vase

Of course, in order to achieve an elegant look, you need to find the right vase for your flower arrangement. The bouquet that you place in a vase should always be a third taller than the vase. This will create a visual balance that will help make any room look lovelier.

Pick a Style

Find a signature approach to flower arrangement. Some like it compact and lush, others love mixing roses with peonies. Still others are okay with having a wild sort of look as flowers are mixed with stems and a few leaves.

Colorize

Do not be afraid to use colors. If you’re hesitant, then start with white flowers and some greens. It is almost impossible to go wrong with this combination. Find green chi roses and pair them with hydrangea foliage.

With spring and summer coming very, very soon, it would be wrong to not have bright colors in your home so go ahead and pair those dahlias with your bright hydrangea.

The Perfect Flowers

There are certain flowers that are an all-time favorite when it comes to home décor. The Wandering Jew is one of such. It comes with striped purple leaves which makes a wonderful pop of bright color in any room.

This plant prefers a lot of sun, in fact, the more sunlight it soaks in, the more it will turn purpler.

Phalaenopsis orchids are also renowned in making homes beautiful because of their long, large white flowers. These are often used on coffee tables or side tables. These favor indirect yet bright sunlight. If you live in a humid area, then this is the perfect flower to bring in.

Geraniums are also pretty with their splashy colors. They are particularly easy to grow so you can have your own garden of this beautiful species. Be sure to let the soil dry out before you do another watering for your geraniums.

Jasmine is just as lovely. It also offers a lovely fragrance that will surely be noticed. Choose from pink or white flowers which can vine into indoor topiaries. Jasmine prefers filtered yet bright sunlight and just a tad of humidity. The perfect solution? Place a vase of jasmine inside your bathroom!
