If you can’t decide on a full on wall-to-wall carpet just yet, then you can always begin with this lusciousCapel Incorporated Floor Coverings The Player Rug 0023XS Oatmeal Saffron to jump-start your decorating needs.
Carpet has a long yet exciting history to offer with the earliest records coming all the way from Siberia. The excavated Pazyryk carpet came from a burial mound. This was dug up in 1947 and was declared to be 2.500 years old.
This carpet was intact because it was preserved in an ice block. The beautiful details on the fabric were kept. It came in impressive with 24 cross figures, 24 deer, and 28 men riding on horseback. Its colors have definitely faded but all the details are still pretty clear.
The Hermitage Museum now houses this wonderful carpet. This is in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
As if this were impressive enough, there are even some pieces that are known to be older than the Pazyryk piece. Some come from Iran, China, Afghanistan, and North America. The carpets that were also found there also had their own distinctive styles as well as significant stories to tell. In fact, the cultures of these places pretty much dictate the designs that are used on the carpets.
Fast forward to our time, carpets are now being mass-manufactured with the most crucial innovation being the one from Dalton, Georgia which is also known as the world’s bed sheet capital. Mechanized tufting revolutionized carpeting in the 1930s.
Why Wall-to-Wall?
There are many reasons to fall for wall-to-wall carpeting and this is not just being safe for babies who are just starting to walk.
First, wall-to-wall carpeting offers the best insulation. The carpet insulates as it holds warmth and keeps the cold out. During the colder climates, having a wall-to-wall carpet is a huge advantage. With the energy costs ever rising, it is a good idea to have carpeting in your home so you can save on energy bills.
If you love luxury then you should definitely have your home installed with a carpet. Just think of the most luxurious hotels and you cannot think of one that does not offer chic, lush carpeting.
A third reason why wall-to-wall carpet is great is noise reduction. There are even condominium bylaws that require wall-to-wall carpeting only. That’s a no-brainer considering that condo units are often installed with speakerphones, big screen television sets, sound systems, and computers. There are even those that have noisy gaming consoles.
All these equipment and electronic stuff make sounds and vibrations which carpeting could easily absorb. And if your carpet has a good amount of padding then you won’t have to worry about sound transmission at all.
Let’s not forget safety. Carpeting is also best for cushioning everyone’s footsteps. You also won’t have to worry too much about slippage and falls. This is especially useful if you have toddlers or some senior members of the family.
Another reason to choose carpeting is its durability. Quality carpets can last for many years especially when they are properly maintained and regularly cleaned. And speak of maintenance, all you have to do is to vacuum and to clean the carpet occasionally. With newer technologies being introduced, it is now easy to treat carpet stains.
Carpets are also versatile. There are so many colors, patterns, and styles to choose from. So whether you’re designing a contemporary or a traditional home, there is a carpet that would suit your style.
Softness is yet another carpet characteristic that makes it worth buying. Just face it – the hardwood floors could get noisy especially when there are kids constantly running about.
The cushioned surface that the carpeted flooring offers will surely make your life a whole lot easier.
If you’re still not sold about the idea of a wall-to-wall carpet, then just go for a huge enough area rug.

Carpet-buying can be a taxing task. After all, you have a lot of styles, patterns, colors, and fibers to choose from.
You need to seriously take on this task especially when you are designing your home. Even that basic cottage becomes instantly glamorous the moment you place the right kind of carpet on its flooring.
Carpeting is everywhere – not only in places where people live but also where they work. It is also found in airports, convention centers, hotels, and other commercial structures. For now, let’s help you find that perfect residential carpeting.
When you are decided on having a new set of carpet, then here are the steps that you need to undertake to end up buying the most suitable one –
Take Your Time
It is important to take your time so that you will be able to check the best qualities and the perfect pattern, color, and even the weight of your carpet. Familiarize yourself with the local retailers of flooring products.
Ask your friends for any referrals. You will soon discover that the prices decrease during spring and fall.
Set a Budget
Of course, you need to know how much you are going to spend for the square footage. The prices differ based on how the carpet is going to be used and where it is going to be placed. There are carpets that can hold massive foot traffic so these are great for spaces such as the living room but it may not be that needful inside the bedroom.
Know Where to Install
It is also important to know where you will place the carpet that you will buy. Know what carpet to place on the stairs, the family room, dining room, etc. For instance, the most durable carpets should be situated in the living room and the stairs while the medium quality carpets should be place on hallways and the dining room.
Now, where do you think the lightest carpet should be installed? If you answered the bedroom, then you are correct.
Decide on the Color
This is the next thing to do. Why? Because the color is crucial in influencing the other color choices.
Do you just go for trendy hues? Or would you pick the carpet based on long-term aspects?
Of course, in choosing, eliminate the hues that you do not want. You can then find the colors that you fancy and then take home some samples. You will not know how the carpet color would manifest in your home until you have seen it in your home.
Now, if you want to make your room appear bigger, then go for light-colored carpets. A cozier room should have darker shades to help create such an effect.
If you have children or pets in your home, then you might also want to invest in a carpet that can easily hide the stains. A solid, dark-colored carpet will help you conceal mishaps but just make sure to regularly clean it still.
Choose the Material
The major categories are natural and synthetic. Every fiber comes with its own characteristics. Wool is your classic type because it is soft, is fire-resistant, and is easy to dye. It flattens easily, though.
Nylon, on the other hand, is strong and is often used together with wool to strengthen the latter.
Polyester is the type that wears well because it does not flatten and can also be easily cleaned.
Lastly, polypropylene is the stain-resistant type which also wears well. The downside is that it is not fire resistant.
Ask your carpet dealer about the warranties of each product especially when it comes to wears and stains. Be sure to read and understand the fine print since not everything is covered.

The Hooker Furniture Bedroom Fair Oaks King Upholstered Bed sits beautifully on the lush bedroom carpet and a unique area rug just on its side.
Carpets have come a long way from the time when woven wool was used in the 1700s. Thanks to the power loom of Erastus Bigelow, the world has now more woven carpets to enjoy.
If you haven’t decided to use a carpet yet, it would be best to take a look at the benefits. Primarily carpets are used to protect the surface of your flooring. Whether you decided to have wood or stone installed, your flooring needs all the protection that it can get. Having a carpet does not just beautify the place but also helps it protect your feet and the flooring from having more scuffs and dents.
There are literally thousands of carpet designs and colors in the market. Your ultimate choice, therefore, should represent who you are and what truly personalizes the living space.
The carpet can serve as a neutral foundation or if it’s interesting enough, it can also serve as the focal point. If you choose to do the latter, make sure that you pick a carpet with bolder patterns, interesting texture, and brighter color.
Did you also know that studies have proven how people with asthma or other allergy problems have improved symptoms when the carpet was installed in their homes? This means that carpeting can also improve the indoor air quality.
The newest carpets have low VOC-emissions. They act as passive air filters that can trap pollen, dust and other harmful particles. These are then removed from the breathing zone.
Of course, carpets also provide warmth and comfort. They also soften one’s fall or slip as they are also the best cushions for your feet.
Last but not the least among carpet benefits is noise reduction. Just imagine all the speaker phones, TVs, and modern sound systems in your home. Without carpeting, the sounds that these create will not be reduced.

Professional Carpet Cleaning Tips
Despite your family’s best efforts to clean up after spills, accidents, and drops, the carpet will eventually succumb to damages. If you want to clean up your carpet in ways that professionals do, then learn some tips –
- Should your carpet sustain a spill or stain, make sure that you blot it with a sponge, paper towel or a clean cloth. Blot it so that the sponge will soak up the liquid. Rubbing the liquid in will only result in more particles seeping to the carpet fibers. As you keep doing this, you could end up with damaged carpet fibers.
- Club soda is also effective in cleaning up wine and beer stains. Just be sure to clean it up correctly. Use the soda on a cloth then blot the stained area. If this still does not work, then mix a part of white vinegar with a part of water. Use a handheld sprayer to shoot onto the area.
Let the solution sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. A sponge could then be used to soak up the liquid. As soon as the stain is gone, be sure to rinse the previously stained spot with warm water.
- Believe it or not, shaving cream does work. It will be able to remove just about every type of stain. Just apply it directly to the stain on your carpet then allow it to set. Blow the set away using a dry white cloth afterward.
Cap your carpet cleaning with shaving cream by spraying the area further with a mixture of one part of water and one part of vinegar. Again, using a clean cloth, wipe away the solution.
- If you happen to have a chewing gum on the carpet, then don’t keep tugging at it. Get it out by getting some ice cubes. Freeze the gum by dabbing it with ice cubes for about 30 seconds. When frozen, use a spoon to lift the hard glob.

When you have finally decided to purchase a new carpet, you might want to do this procedure smartly. You probably already know how carpets are made as well as the different styles but what should you know prior to buying?
Here are some carpet buying guidelines to help you think on your feet –
Carpet Seams
You are certainly going to have seams on your carpet unless your room is tighter than 15 feet. Majority of carpets that are being sold in the market come in 12 to 15 feet. There are, at times, 13-foot carpets. The degree upon which the seams are available depend on the color as well as the texture that you pick. Other factors that can affect the seam that you see is how well the lighting system has been installed and how expertly the furnishings have been placed.
Carpet Bending
Be ready for bending when you use the carpet on your stairs. If you have a looped carpet, you could even see snags especially at the transition or seams. Find out how to properly care for looped carpets.
Pile Shading
Also called the carpet’s nap, this is the shading that runs in one direction. This creates the pile reversal or pile shading. This is what’s evident on a vacuum trail. This actually normal for a lot of cut pile designs. If you’re not a huge fan of this, then minimize the effect by using interesting window treatments and properly placing the furniture in the room.
Carpet Color
Remember that the carpet will be covering a huge part of the room so it is crucial that you learn the basic rules as you select the perfect hue. Begin by knowing that the carpet color you saw in the store won’t be as colorful when you bring it home with you. That is a common fact so you need to recognize the color that will look exactly beautiful in your room.
Keep in mind, too, that the color will definitely affect the visual size of the room. This is what’s known as visual or optical illusion. Use some lighting tricks, add a dash of an adventurous spirit and you will have a room that will look huge when you want it to. Add darker colors and you make this same room appear more intimate and compact.
Carpet Stains
Carpet stains are realities of life. They will eventually happen whether you like it or not. Those late night wine sips and TV chips and salsa moments will surely stain the carpet sooner or later.
Stain protection is also an important consideration that you need to worry about during carpet buying. Different products require different levels of warranties and protection. As carpet quality increases, so does the amount of stain protection as well as the warranty coverage.
Carpet Cushion
Cushion or padding is that layer of spongy material that’s sandwiched between the floor and the carpet surface. This is the material that will determine how the carpet feels under your feet.
Quality padding is also the factor that will preserve the carpet’s look. This will also help extend the life of your carpet. The level of comfort that you and your loved ones feel also depends hugely on this feature.
Only the best kind of padding can keep your carpet from easy wear and tear. This is sold by quality specs and not color specs. Remember how color becomes lighter as you finally install it in your home? Well, padding won’t so the way it feels under your feet when you were in the store will be the same when you take it home with you.
Carpet Cost
This is the last factor because you should not make this the primary deciding factor. Check for the cost per square foot. Remember that the overall cost will include furniture removal and replacement, demolition, delivery, sub-floor prepping, installation and materials used.

We all know the benefits of having a carpet installed in one’s home or office. First, appearance wise, carpeting creates the image that you want for your home or business. Second, with the right choice, it is also a symbol of opulence and style. Carpets are also great insulators apart from being a psychological source of warmth.
Carpet maintenance is a bit labor intensive, though. If you want to do the cleaning yourself, here are some tips so you won’t be left with a useless carpet on your floor –
Test for Colorfastness
Colorfast carpets are not supposed to fade, bleed or be altered when you clean them or wash them to remove stains. Whether the carpet is colorfast or not will greatly affect the kind of cleaning products that you will use.
Here’s how to pre-test the carpet –
- Ask for a scrap of the carpet then try to vacuum it.
- Dampen a piece of cloth with a stain remover.
- Place the cloth atop the carpet for about an hour then blot the moist spot with a dry cloth.
- If you see carpet dyes, then test another cleaning product till you see the best one that won’t make the piece of carpet bleed.
Carpet Cleaning
Be sure to protect your carpet padding, furniture and subfloor when you’re out to clean the carpet. Ask someone to help you in removing furniture from rooms.
Vacuum the carpet thoroughly. Have a rental cleaner especially when it is highly recommended by the carpet company. It’s either this or just have it professionally cleaned. Should you pick the wet extraction method, be sure to dry the carpet for 24 hours so that mold and mildew won’t grow in the padding or the carpet itself. You have the power to stop moisture from destroying the flooring underneath.
Majority of the carpet cleaning systems use water extraction. These are also referred to as steam cleaners. These work by injecting a solution to the carpet pile then sipping the dirty solution to the machine.
Find a model that does not require a water hookup so that you won’t have to worry about dragging a hose all around the house anymore. Overwetting could easily damage the carpet backing as well as the underlayment leading to discoloration, shrinking and bad carpet odor.
The other extraction method is the dry extraction method. All you have to do is to spread the dry absorbent all over the carpet. You then vacuum it using a cleaning machine. These work better than most steam cleaners.
You can also opt for a rented carpet cleaner. This is a professional quality steam cleaner from a rental center. This is more powerful compared to the home type. Make sure to allocate some budget for the rental fee which will pay for the shampoo, spot removers, de-foamer, odor remover, etc.
When you decide to hire professionals, you get to choose between dry extraction or steam cleaning still. Professionals handle these cleaning techniques differently and you would soon wonder at the awesome job that they have done.

This FFDM Villa Cascina piece sits wonderfully on a carpeted bedroom.
Simple Maintenance Tips
You can also get into the habit of taking off your shoes when you enter any carpeted room. Shoes have dust and other nasty stuff so make sure to have a mat placed at your front door. Purchase slippers that will only be worn when inside the house.
Be sure to vacuum twice each week. Vacuuming is your best defense against early carpet retirement. Include lint-free rags that can be used to blot spills. Just don’t rub them on the carpet of the spill would seep deeper to the carpet fibers.
Remember these tips and you are sure to enjoy your carpet for a long, long time.

Featured furniture: FFDM American Cherry Collection. Carpeting provides the perfect grounding material for the wooden elements.
Carpeting is one of the design elements that will always be considered a home décor status. In the recent years, though, it has been overshadowed by other flooring materials such as hardwood, tiles and laminates.
Carpets can be affordable, comfortable, beautiful, and green, all at the same time. So would you consider installing it as your new floor covering?
Carpet Benefits
Imagine sinking your feet in soft, plush carpeting. Now double the comfort by picturing yourself getting out of bed in the morning and sinking your feet into your chosen carpet.
One of the trending bedroom carpeting materials are those that are super plush and comfortable. What you just need to prep for is that special vacuum cleaner that would help you maintain the plushness.
Now that winter is just around the corner, carpets are once again becoming a warm option (both literally and figuratively). This is that warm, cozy surface that kids and pets love running on.
Carpet also offers an insulating effect which would allow you to keep the thermostat at a lower level. This should reduce the heating bills especially during the coldest months.
Walking on carpets also means you have a resilient material under your feet. It is actually easy on your joints which is great for homes with elderly who are suffering from bursitis or arthritis.
The busiest households can also count on carpets as an effective sound buffer. Condominium dwellers are even required by bylaws to install the wall-to-wall type of carpeting to keep sounds at a bare minimum.
Carpets are also one of the most affordable flooring solutions for your home. It is priced much lower than most flooring materials especially when compared to hardwood. While carpet installation could cost a bit more, the overall expense is still much lower compared to the budget that you need to allocate for hardwood flooring project.
Most carpets, nowadays, are made from nylon, polyester, polypropylene or triexta. PET polyester is a material that is increasingly being used because it has been recycled from post-consumer waste products. It is also known to be durable and stain resistant.
Synthetic materials used in carpets also have lower VOCs compared to the unnatural flooring options such as laminates. It is best to leave your home during installation. Make sure that room is well-ventilated for 48 hours before you set foot into the room once again.

Carpet Maintenance
Dust will always be the enemy of carpets. Since this is so, they can also become a source of allergens that could cause various breathing problems. This means that you should vacuum your carpets more frequently.
Look for vacuum cleaners that have a special HEPA or High Efficiency Particulate Air filter. This should keep the dust from circulating indoors.
Make sure also that the carpet remains dry so that mold and mildew are kept at bay. These are, of course, also dangerous to the human respiratory system which is why you should make sure that carpets are not just dust-free but also moisture-free.
The Downside
There are pros and cons to owning a carpet and the downside here is that you cannot expect it to last for more than 10 years. Its lifespan can be extended if you constantly take care of it. Proper care means removing your shoes religiously as you come in from the dirty outdoors.
If cleaning becomes an issue, then you will need to hire professionals who can have your carpet steam cleaned for you. A healthy schedule for steam cleaning would have to be 12 to 18 months but you’d need shorter months for carpets that are installed in high traffic rooms in your home.

FFDM’s Protege Collection: This geometric carpet pairs well with the hardwood flooring that it’s on.
One of the most difficult things to decide on when you become a homeowner is what kind of flooring you would have installed in your home. If you’re one of those who are clueless on where to begin, there are tips that can help you, not just in choosing your flooring material but also the carpeting that would go well with it –
Mix and Match
When deciding around flooring, it’s alright to mix up quite a bit. There is no need to stick to just a single texture. Smart mixes of various floorings can be an effective move.
High traffic areas such as the kitchen, hallways, and family rooms need hard products like laminates. Luxury areas have a different requirement. Bedrooms, lounge rooms and other such areas need carpeting.
Find floors that will complement each other. This is the key to making a functional and lovely living space. Find a tone that is suitable for your home and your preference. There are certain rules to follow, though, such as using warmer tones when your home has high ceilings.
Remember that warmer hues do not automatically mean darker tones. Balance the hard floor and carpet mixture by using the right pairings of hues. The tone and color of every floor should come from like color families. Never go into visual jarring.
Wooden floors and carpeting are never an either/or choice. A comfortable home needs a mixture of both. The floor should be able to withstand high traffic while showcasing your personality.
The designers of today prefer to use wood and carpet for utmost visual impact. None can offer a more striking look. Wood floor is an effective element that can tie different rooms together. It is beautiful, easy to clean, durable and elegant. It is also visually warm so it is easy to make your home feel more comfortable when you install it.
Get the most out of hardwood floors by knowing when to use light and dark colored wood. Lighter colors should be able to open up cramped spaces. Darker woods can create an intimate space out of an expansive area.
Be sure to pair hardwood flooring with unique area rugs or carpet.

FFDM’s Summer Home Collection: The lovely beige carpet pairs with the darker hue of the wood flooring in this bedroom.
Some Hardwood Floor No-No’s
- Never match the colors of your wood floors with the wood cabinets.
- Don’t use wood in high-traffic rooms.
Say Yes to Carpets
Carpets have a lot of benefits to offer. First, they are able to mute noise and are even able to keep your feet warm. Choose the right color and material so that you won’t have to clean and deodorize all the time.
Carpets are great to use inside bedrooms and living spaces. These are areas where warmth and comfort are most needed, hence, you can use ample carpeting there.
If you want to anchor furniture groupings, then use area rug and carpet duos. Be sure to highlight analogous textures and neutral hues.
Carpets are unwelcome in rooms where food is often prepared. They shouldn’t also be matched with other carpets in separate rooms so that there is a clear division of space and functionality.
How About Area Rugs?
Area rugs are more versatile than carpeting and hardwood flooring. These pair beautifully with tiles, carpet or wood, and just about any material that you could think of; they can also define spaces while enhancing the décor all around.
Area rugs can also protect the floor from wear, tear and dirt. Make sure that you choose the right size of rugs. Majority of rooms, including the bedroom, dining room and living room need no less than 8×10 foot rug. Breakfast nooks can make do with a 5×7.

Are you recently going about looking to interview the best carpet dealer and installer? There is a series of questions that you need to ask the salesperson before you can make your decision. ‘Wanna know what these questions are?
What Kind of Room?
Ask what sort of room will be installed with the carpet. Know also if this room is formal or informal or whether it sustains heavy foot traffic.
What Do You Expect?
It is also notable that you ask what he or she expects as the best carpeting for your space.
How Would It Feel?
This next question is super important because it involves comfort. Ask the salesperson how the carpet would feel underfoot. Better yet, walk on it and know the actual feeling.
How Much?
There are two sub-questions to this question; first, how much does the carpet cost and how much is its installation charge?
Carpeting cost is not always the same as quality, though, so make sure to check on durability. The more expensive carpets are not often better; the price is just higher because more fibers have been added.
Getting a carpet pad means you should know how to fit it to the kind of carpeting used. The most common misconception about thick carpets is that they are the best. Plush carpets ask for thicker pads so make sure you are ready for such.
When it comes to carpet fiber, there are three types being used in the industry these days, with each having a different price range. The first is polypropylene (e.g. the loop style), polyester (made from recycled pet bottles), and nylon which is the most popular fiber.
How Often?
It would also be great to ask what maintenance guidelines the salesperson could give you. Do you need to vacuum more often? Would there be extra fibers flying about?
Easy-to-clean carpets are those that are resistant to stains or are just easy to clean. Polyester is one such material which is why it is also being used to manufacture carpets. This is a crucial material in applications where there are issues on stains.
Nylon can be treated when stained. Ask the salesperson about the treatment that would best take the stains out on this kind of carpet.
How Durable?
Carpets with flat and denser cut-and-loop can wear like iron. It is highly dense especially when there are more stitches used every square inch. This is the reason why most commercial buildings use this type of carpet.
The trackless carpet is also a great choice for rooms in your home. It comes with crimped fibers, a great texture, and the fibers are cut to varying heights so that the light would be reflected and the tracks would not show. This makes it the best choice in high traffic rooms of your home such as the living room or the dining room.
How Stylish?
You get to ask this if you want the plush kind of carpet. This is that kind of carpet where you would want to run through with no slippers on!
Although stylish, the plush carpet also has its drawbacks. Since it is thick, vacuum and foot tracks are easily seen. This should be placed in areas with very low foot traffic such as the master bedroom, powder room and the drier sections of the bathroom.
An example of a unique and stylish carpet is our example here, a carpet from the Biltmore Collection. The Bidjar style comes with quality wool which is the traditional rug design from Capel and Biltmore rugs. This comes with a stylish flair which makes George Vanderbilt’s global travels and carpet purchases worth everything.

The right carpet will make furniture sets stand out. Featured pieces come from the Viniterra Collection of FFDM.
Consider shopping for a carpet as shopping for a new vehicle – it involves financial investment, opting for different colors and style; and practically looking for a brand that meets your personal requirements. You may be tempted to settle with a basic color or even to just nod at every suggestion that the salesperson will tell you. Finding the right carpet can be done by doing some basic homework.
Carpet fibers to choose from include –
Nylon
This synthetic fiber outperforms many other fibers when it comes to resilience and easy maintenance. If you are searching for a carpet that will last a decade or more, or one that you would use for high traffic areas, then this is the material to look for in your carpet.
A home with kids and pets will also be blessed to have a nylon carpet instead of any other material. The softest and strongest type of nylon is the 6.6.
Polyester
This is also known as PET and is famous for being stain resistant. When you feel it underfoot, you would instantly notice how soft and luxurious it is. It can be a tad more difficult to clean because it has a tendency to shed. It is also less durable than nylon.
Polyester carpets are best used in low traffic rooms such as the bedroom. It is also a leading choice among homes that do not have kids or pets.
This is a great choice if you want to have a plush carpet while working out.
Olefin or polypropylene is a reasonably priced yet attractive fiber that is able to resist fading. It may not be as resilient as nylon but it can beautifully conceal dirt which is perfect for family rooms or the kids’ play areas.

Capel Incorporated Floor Coverings Carpet Grip 9′ x 12′ Rug 8330RS09001200000
High Quality Only
As soon as you get your carpet sample, be sure to bend it backward. If you are able to see the back part more easily then this is a sign that you have a low quality carpet in your hand. This will never be a good deal for your carpeting needs.
Handle the carpet and see if it has no less than 34 to 40 ounces of face weight (the number of fiber ounce per square yard). Range should be anywhere from 20 to 80, of course, the higher the number, the more resilient and heavier the carpet is going to be.
Twist is the number of times tufts are twisted in an inch. Again, the higher the number, the more tough the carpet is. Find a tuft twist of five or higher.
The density rating for the carpet should be no less than 2,000. This is determined by the fibers’ thickness how tightly-packed they have been. The heavier and thicker the fibers are, the higher the quality of the carpet (and the less susceptible it is to crushing).
Do not over measure your carpeting needs. This means you should only pay for the carpet and padding that you actually need. Ask for estimates then compare. Just to make sure that you do not commit an error in measurement, consider hiring a carpet installer to do the task.
Ask for a flooring diagram which will show you the measurements as well as the locations of the seams. See also that you check these seams, the pad and the carpet’s stretching limits. Compare the carpet and pad samples to the delivered items. Ensure that they are the same quality.
Poor installation and low carpet quality can result to many other problems in the future. Nip it in the bud while it is yet early. Choosing the right carpet and installing it properly from the onset is the answer to this.

The floor is defined by an online dictionary to be the surface of a room wherein one stands. If you are looking into redesigning the floor of your home, then you have to know where your starting point is. There are so many factors to look into such as the textures that are going to be used, also the palette, quality and patterns. You wouldn’t want to overlook these crucial elements once the redesigning project is on its way.
There are various floor designs that you can choose from which makes it difficult, at times, to decide on what details to use. If you are working alone, without the help of an interior designer, then you know that you need to consider your budget and style seriously.
The lighting inside your home will also affect the kind of flooring that you will install. There are flooring designs that could look lighter or darker depending on the amount of light that is focused onto it. Such flooring materials may look different inside the showroom so be careful when you harmonize the lighting and flooring.
You can find inspirational photos online which can help you personalize your flooring. You can choose from colorful tiles, wooden planks, hand-painted floors, terrazzo flooring, even porcelain tiles. Choose the style that speaks to you and have fun as you begin your flooring design project.

Redesigning Flooring: Using Hardwoods
Hardwood floors present a unique splendor that can make decorating a tad more daunting. Hardwood floors can account for a huge part of your interior design budget only because they are built to last.
Since you are choosing hardwood for your flooring, you also have to consider the design for your entire home. The wood type and finish of the flooring you selected will inevitably set the atmosphere. A traditional style requires oak or ash floors. Other such woods have grains that have a timeless look. They also come in a variety of finishes and stains.
Those who want to have a contemporary home should look for the monochromatic options such as maple, or the unique patterns offered by sapele or tigerwood.
Cherry, hickory and other hardwoods would be perfect for those who choose a rustic style.
Another aspect of hardwood flooring is to check on the finish. There is a huge array of stains and finishes for hardwood floors. Should you prefer contrasts, then use a dark finish on the flooring combined with light furniture.
- Match the flooring material with the rest of the design elements in your home. Dark stained flooring with a high gloss will look perfect in a modern setting. Rustic lovers will want to use hand-scraped hardwoods in different hues. Honey and mahogany hues will surely be embraced by traditionalists.
