Is Your Home Pet-friendly?

Rachael Ray Home by Legacy Classic Furniture Accessories Dog Bed with Cushion

Have you ever given a thought as to why your family owns a dog, cat, rabbit or caged lovebirds?  If you’re a parent, then you can attest to the love that children show to their pets. Large or small, these animals offer companionship to everyone in the family, hence, they deserve to share your home with you.

When you’re just about to buy a pet, then you know that there are many things to consider before you take home that fur baby. First you need to ask yourself whether you’re ready for the daily exercise, cleaning routines, and feeding schedules that you’re about to sign up to.

If you believe that you have these all figured out, then it’s time to consider how the pet(s) will affect your habitat. Would you like to share your home to a furry friend and make this experience a harmonious one?

Learn to Customize

You’re about to add some Day-Glo beds and some paw print designs. Whatever theme you end up choosing for your furry one, be sure to prioritize its comfort. A blanket box can be easily converted to the new cat bed while kitchen drawers can become the feeding station. You can get creative as you welcome your home’s newest member.

Be Sure to Match

Match what, you might ask. Take a very careful look throughout your home then find out what needs to be changed. If you want to take home a black dog then you should not dwell with the pale surroundings. It’s time to shop around for the color that will match or at least best conceal the fur of your incoming family member.

Pick a Flexible Sofa

Remember that dogs and cats love to get up to their master’s couch. These furry creatures will surely keep trying to go up your seat. You may want to rethink that leather couch decision and go for the distressed look for now.

Many pet owners can attest to the durability of micro fiber textiles and Sunbrella. Such textiles are a lot easier to clean and they also wear so well.

Feature ‘Em

Fish tanks are now a pretty addition to a living area. They’re not just the home for your pet fish but also an amazing decorative element that does not even try so hard to be noticed. The right size and style of aquarium could even become the focal point in a room.

Be Mindful

You are taking home a family friend or a family member so it is best to pick a spot where the bird or the cat can dwell without having to suffer from scented candle aromas, cooking fumes, and such. Even cigarette smoke can be fatal to many birds so be careful in setting up the cage.

The Importance of Vacuum

You would soon regard the vacuum as your new best friend. This is best used for feathers and fur that are sticking onto the carpet, area rug and the couch. There are now pet vacuums that come with modified accessories. These come with extra suction power as well as filtration systems that are made especially for fur or feather cleanup.

If the vacuum comes with a bag, be sure to pop in a moth ball or a wool ball that’s infused with a drop or two of essential oils.

Expect Scratches

If you have hardwood flooring, then you cannot expect your life to be sublime. You will see scratching as the months and years pass so it is best to cover the areas that you wouldn’t want to be damaged. Use porcelain tiles that come in a wooden style so that you’d still have the ingrained effect minus the skids and scratches.

Rug Artwork – Appreciating Carpets and Rugs at a Whole New Level

Capel Incorporated Floor Coverings Biltmore Select Bidjar Rug 1773RS Regal Blue

Do you have a family heirloom rug that you have been aching to display but you do not want to wear and tear? Or maybe you have a carpet that you acquired from your travels that you now want everyone to enjoy.

The rug or carpet as an artwork or wall hanging is a beautiful and unique idea that not a lot of people are willing to go through but it is an idea that’s worth trying.

There are various ways to hang that carpet or rug on the wall. Whatever method you choose is dependent on the weight as well as the size of the rug. The location and your personal preference will also affect the rug installation.

Hang with Velcro

The first method that you can use to hang an area rug is through the use of Velcro. This is a method that is preferred by most museums. The Textile Museum displays its rugs successfully using this simple method.

The Velcro consists of two strips called the loop tape and the hook tape. The rough part is called the hook tape while the look is that soft, fuzzy part.

When you’re using Velcro, be sure to sew the back part of the rug onto the loop tape. This should be sewn through the whole top edge. If you’re hanging a high-value or heirloom rug, then you should use a strip of unbleached, plain canvas or muslin that’s wider than the Velcro strip used. This will prevent any damage to the rug when it comes in contact with the Velcro or other rough materials.

After stitching the Velcro loop tape onto the muslin strip, sew the muslin to your area rug. A handmade rug must also have a hand-sewn muslin. Use nothing but a whip stitch so that no damage would occur on the rug.

Hiding the stitching is as easy as using a heavy cotton thread that has a color that closely resembles that of the rug. Be sure to carefully tread the needle between the fibers.

When you’re ready to attach it to the wall, the hook tape can then be stapled to a thin piece of wood which comes in the same width as the area rug that you’re about to hang. You can then mount this piece of wood to the wall. Use two Velcro strips can then be connected.

Just check that the untreated wood won’t touch any part of the rug as this will cause damage. This is why canvas or muslin must be used as an outline so that the wood will be sealed.

For bigger and heavier rugs, just repeat this process, making sure that there are about 3-4 strips of wood that are vertically stacked every few feet. These will help support the weight of the area rug.

Hang with a Curtain Rod

The second method requires a curtain rod. Just sew a cotton casing right on the back of the area rug. Be sure to do this by hand. Form a tube so that the curtain rod may be inserted there. You can then mount the rod onto the brackets which you set up on the wall.

Make sure that the rod is strong enough to provide the necessary support that the area rug needs. For a decorative look, you can use a rod that extends to each edge of your area rug. You can use ornamental finials to cap your design.

Without regard to the method used, you must always remember these cardinal rules when hanging a rug or carpet –

Never hang it near a heat or electrical source.

Never pin or nailed to the wall as this will cause irreparable damage to the rug.

Uttermost Lamps and Lighting Adelino 1 Light Pendant 21976

More and more homeowners and interior designers are realizing the benefits of pendant lighting. They find out that it is stylish, it can be modern or classic, and all in all, it’s beautiful.

Pendant lighting is able to provide a one-of-a-kind ambiance in a room. It is also the ideal lighting for when you want to focus on just one thing. This kind of lighting provides light pools which makes it ideal above desks, that place where dishes are washed, and for when you want to focus on a single activity. Unlike other lighting types, pendant lighting offers soft light which is preferable when you want to set a certain mood.

When you need to update the look in any room, you’d be sure to find a pendant lighting fixture that will suit your project. You can install pendants in the bedroom, the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and just about any room in your home.

The pendant style can add to the overall impression that you make. It can also increase the level of charm. This also provides an impact that will make you relaxed and comfortable or romantic.

Pendant lighting has been a vital part of many home décor because it is so flexible. It can easily adapt to any theme because it blends with any design or color palette. It also easily complements other decorative elements giving the room a highly impressive look.

Pendant lighting fixtures are also seen to be more interesting compared to other kinds of lighting. This has the capacity to look like it’s fine jewelry. Its beauty is coupled with adaptability and functionality – so what more can you ask for?

Let’s Install That Pendant

The installation of pendant lighting when you already have an existing junction is quite easy. This lighting fixture is available in a wide variety of hues and styles. Just be sure to cover the switch with your tape just to ascertain your safety. Use also a circuit tester to make sure that the power has been turned off.

The first step in pendant light installation is to select the kind of fixture that you want. Normally, it hangs with an electrical cord. The style lies in the type of shade which you can use to match your space. The transparent shade or the flared shape is able to cast more light in a room. The opaque ones are better able to focus light on a surface.

Step 2 is to locate the electrical panel. Turn off the power going in the junction box. Remove any previously mounted lighting fixture must be removed, making sure that no damage is done to the wiring.

There are three wires that are commonly visible, two of these are for power, while the third wire is for electrical ground. Be sure to remove any mounting brackets installed in the past.

Next, using a screwdriver, attach the bracket which came with your lighting, to the box. Use the screws provided by the manufacturer. Check that the bracket is snugly installed.

Step 4 is to check the height and adjust it so that you are able to hang, release, and then pull the cord through the provided cover. Set your desired length. The excess cord should be cut with a wire cutter or left with the excess concealed behind the mounted cover.  The height that you set is your preference.

Step 5 is to attach the grounding wire to the mounting bracket. Be sure to twist the wires’ bare ends then cap with wire nuts. Affix the cover then tighten till it rests firmly on the ceiling. Make sure no wires are exposed.

Slide the threads then replace the nut to secure the fixture. Just check, if released, that the pendant lighting hangs at a level that suits the room. Last, select a bulb according to your mood preference.

Feminine Influence in Interior Design

One look and you’d know which room is masculine and which one is feminine. Featured collections are the Fine Furniture Design Living Room Northam Cocktail Ottoman and the Hooker Furniture Bedroom Modern Romance California King Upholstered Shelter Bed.

When asked whether the room that you’re standing in is masculine or feminine, how would you respond? Are there really masculine and feminine rooms?

There are instances when interior designers described houses or rooms in this manner but this does not seem to go well with a few readers. Calling anything masculine or feminine does not mean that the style is purely for males or purely for females. This only means that the characteristics that are associated with a particular design are more inclined with one gender than the other.

Ladies First

Let’s define what rooms are often linked to femininity. The living room is a high-traffic zone. When you see floral throws, a colorful abstract painting, or pink walls, then you’re sure to think that the place belongs to someone who is feminine.

This could also be the case in the bedroom where the floral wallpaper sits right on top of the pink walls. The furniture is fairly neutral but it is encased with light colors such as delicate golds and pastels. You are also likely to see comfy stuff such as a tufted ottoman, delicate prints, and pile fabrics.

Now on to Men

The rooms where masculinity thrives is a place where there are leather sofa, rough-hewn logs, dark-colored furnishings, and sometimes, even stuffed animals. And nothing screams bachelor pad more than black leather chairs.

You are also going to find a lot of wood beams, textures, plaid, some gold frames, and a leather headboard.

What makes these things masculine is the thing that is associated with the particular material used. For example, leather is linked with hunting as are animal hides. Exposed bricks, concrete, and wood beams are known to be rugged, thus, manly. Simple, straight lines define the very nature of men as the female form is more angular.

Metals such as chrome or steel are the epitome of simplicity as well as honesty.

Going Feminine

Feminine interiors are not all created alike. Just as there are many different kinds of women, there, too, are different feminine designs. Those who have a romantic, Bohemian personality could go for shabby chic. The career woman could opt for the more linear designs.

Home décor that comes with curvilinear forms, asymmetry, and soft colors is a style that epitomizes what’s typically feminine, though. If you want to set up a more feminine room in your home, then you can always begin with any muted, soft color.

Don’t immediately go for pink, though, as this is already too cliché. Explore the wonders of the color spectrum. Pick the color that speaks to you then find the grayed down version of this same hue. You can then create a soft palette out of the color that you mixed.

You can still use darker colors so long as you have them paired with lighter colors.

The next step is to achieve the curvilinear forms that are naturally feminine. Don’t go for geometrics as these are strictly edgy and, therefore, more masculine. If you still can’t let go of geometric shapes, then you could go for random asymmetry. Don’t go for symmetry when you have to use geometrics. Remember this especially when you are organizing framed photos.

Say yes to traditional or romantic designs since these tend to be more associated with femininity. Use ornate details on your metals, wood, and stone works. Consider using lighter woods and leather so that the soft lines and materials are counteracted.

Femininity is also defined by lush fabrics and materials. Invest in the fluffiest pillows. Use a plush-textured accent rug. Find also some touchable textiles for all your living spaces.

No Renovations, Just Updates (Part II)

Wednesday, May 9th, 2018

The ceiling, wall, and floor colors blend well with the Brookston King Upholstered Bed from Fine Furniture Design’s Camden-Brookhaven Collection.

Remodeling or reconstructing your home means one thing first and foremost – the whole family is going to be involved in the process. If not, arguments could surely ensue. Keeping the peace means letting everyone take a peek at your vision about what’s going to be changed.

But not everyone is that excited about renovations. The remodeling could take up everyone’s time plus the bigger the renovation, the costlier it could get. Not to mention that there is a possibility that everyone will be asked to move out of the house while the renovation is ongoing.

If you are not yet prepared for such a project, then there are simple ways to update the look of your home without breaking the bank or without even moving out. Here are five simple ways to make your home look new –

Add New Knobs and Handles

Nothing could help update the look of a kitchen or even the bathrooms than the old-fashioned way of installing new knobs and pulls. This is a pretty simple project that anyone can do and, no, it does not require any carpentry skills.

Choose from the many finishes that you could find on the Internet. There’s bronze, aged copper, brushed nickel, and the easiest to maintain – shiny stainless. There’s a myriad choice whether you’re looking to design a modern or a contemporary kitchen or bathroom.

Don’t stress about not being able to pick the right one at first. You can always buy two types and then see which style works best for the room that you have in mind. If you’re still confused, then be able to define, first, what style you’re trying to set up.

If you want a country kitchen, then your go-to materials include wood and other ornate pieces. If you’re going for the modern look, then find stainless knobs. Remember that you’re the master when it comes to the design.

Install New Wallpaper

Nope, we’re not asking that you install wallpaper with flowers and a pink color scheme just like the one that your grandma had in her living room. If you’re not ready to take on a painting job or to assign it to anyone, then wallpaper it.

Choose from the new lines of wallpaper (the removable type). Find the graphics or patterns that go well with your existing design. These kinds of wallpaper are now easier to remove. All you have to do when you grow tired of the look is to peel them off and you won’t even find any scratch or damage underneath. By then, the walls are ready to use again. You can then paint or install a different wallpaper design.

For an easy weekend project for the family, you can just wallpaper a single wall. The main wall in the bedroom can be the best place to begin. Update the look of this room by adding geometric patterned wallpaper. There are now various online stores that sell different designs. Be sure to take your time in choosing the one that you’d end up using.

Add the Maitland-Smith Bathroom Pompeian Patina Brass Seahorse Tissue Holder, Provence Finished Wood Base in your bathroom for a wonderfully rustic new look.

Bathroom Cleanup

Yup. Many people end up saying yes to bathroom overhaul when, in fact, all that their bathrooms needed was an easy cleanup. Buy some baking soda and other cleaning agents to make the room sparkling clean.

Look also for outdated lighting fixtures, knobs, faucets, and vanity while you’re at it.

Clean It, Paint It

When you’ve exhausted all the means to update your home, then it’s time to clean up your living spaces and then have them painted with a fresh coat of paint. Consider painting an accent wall for now. You could also try painting the ceiling with a cooler color such as powder blue.

Wood, Wood, Wood Everywhere – And Why Wood Furnishings Are the Best

Tuesday, May 8th, 2018

The Belvedere Chest, made of quality wood, is sure to make heads turn when placed in any bedroom.

When one is asked to describe the rustic design, it is often thought to be crude and basic. On the contrary, when designed properly, it can be amazingly beautiful. Only natural materials are let into the design such as stone, metals, and of course, raw wood.

The principle behind this design is quite simple – you have to love what’s aesthetically organic. The design elements would then fill your home with warmth and comfort.

Wood – The Primary Element

Wood is the leading element of any rustic home. It is used because it is the ideal choice for a naturally-looking room. Just imagine using hickory, alder, pine or cherry – they simply catch the beholder’s attention without even trying.

There are several reasons why you should pick wood furniture above all other options. First of all, wood has outlasted many challenges posed by the onset of plastic, glass, aluminum, and many other materials that were mass-produced. This material reigns supreme because it is also resilient and built for longevity.

Wood is naturally strong which is why it is the leading go-to material when it comes to furniture creation as well as designing parts of a house.

Wood is also amazingly easy to maintain. And under the best care, wood is also proven to have a lengthened shelf life. Your only daily routine is to dust and wipe and you’re good to go. Just these two simple chores and you’d have the look of a polished, clean wood. It is advised, though, that you strictly follow manufacturer’s directions with regard to specific care for certain wood creations.

Another reason why you should choose wood furniture is that it’s naturally pretty. Just a single piece right in the middle of the room can make a huge difference in the overall look of your home. Add to this the charm that the natural grains add to the uniqueness of the wood furniture and you’re sure to be referred to as the sophisticated furniture connoisseur.

Investing in any wood furniture also ascertains quality, beauty, and comfort. Some woods are expensive but the lasting beauty that they can offer more than compensates for the initial investment. All in all, it’s a worthy cause.

Compared to plastic, wood furniture is more environment-friendly. And with more and more people getting worried about global warming as well as climate change, you ought to do your part, too. Wood does not pose any damaging effects on the environment. Those who manufacture wood furniture have also come up with their own improved technologies so that wastage is at a bare minimum.

Wood is also a sustainable material source. When certified and responsibly sourced, this is a wonderful choice for sustainability. You also have the option to buy locally-harvested woods and artisans in your area.

Of course, trees that also come in different varieties. There is a wide range of tones and colors of wood which means you can choose from a lot of looks and styles. You can also have a wonderful time picking the best grains and textures that you actually want.

Wood should be your go-to material when it comes to creating an awesome setting. Wood furniture can easily become a part of any style or design scheme. It can be rustic or it can also be modern depending on the species that you took on as a material for your furnishings.

You could also blend different species in a room, for example, red gum for the dining table and a pine dresser. Whichever wood species you choose, you are sure to achieve seamless grace in your home.

The Whys and Hows of Painting the Ceiling

Monday, May 7th, 2018

The transition of the ceiling paint down to the four walls is simply sublime. Featured here is the Bridgeport Pencil Post Queen Bed from the American Cherry Collection of Fine Furniture Design.

One of the most neglected parts of a house is the ceiling. This is no less than the fifth wall of a structure so more thought should be given to its design. When you are designing or redecorating, it’s high time that you consider also the ceiling color. This should be a part of your color palette since the ceiling plays a huge role with regard to the overall look and feel of a room.

Light or Dark?

Picking a dark or light color has the power to change the ambiance in a room. Lighter colors tend to make rooms appear bigger while darker hues tend to do the opposite. The fusion of colors, whether you chose light or dark, can have a long-term effect on your home so better choose well.

Big rooms with higher ceilings have a tendency to feel unbalanced or even cold. Most of the time also, the furniture that occupy the room still tend to leave a lot of empty space.

The right paint color can bring that high ceiling down, visually at least. Use rich or medium deep hues like chocolate brown so that the ceiling becomes more personalized. This dark ceiling could also easily become the new focal point, as the eyes are taken away from the sparse furnishings.

For small rooms or those that come with low ceilings, it is easy for the ambiance to feel cramped or even stuffed. Here, you can use light colors in opening up the space. The secret to a successful ceiling painting job when this is the scenario is to keep the contrast between the colors of the ceilings and walls to a bare minimum.

If you have to do white ceilings, then you’re on the right track. This is a hue that goes with any color and it is also effective in reflecting the light (natural or man-made). Using monochromatic colors also allows the ceiling to blend with the walls and the rest of the room.

DIY Ceiling Painting

Tobacco smoke, roof leaks, and huge spills can leave the ugliest ceiling stains. These are difficult to conceal with mere paint. You can begin by covering the stains with a primer. Use the regular white pigmented shellac. There are spray cans of this shellac although it is much easier to brush it on the ceiling.

Do not forget to get denatured alcohol or ammonia when you clean your brush. Make sure to paint with this shellac prior to painting using latex.

Over time, also, the paint layers could add up and they become bumpy looking. When this is the case, it is best to sand with a 100-grit sanding paper. This ensures a smooth painting project on the ceiling. This will also ensure that the paint will bond easily. Once you’re done sanding, use a damp sponge to wipe the ceiling just so you can remove dust particles.

The next step is to cut in before rolling. Paint using a brush along the ceiling edges. Do this one section at a time – remember cut then roll, cut and roll.

To get the best results, buy paint that is especially formulated for ceiling application. You would want paint that would not spatter and one that dries more slowly. You would also want a flat paint instead of the glossy one. If you’re tired of the standard white ceiling, you can always ask for a different tint.

When painting the walls, too, it is best to lap the colors a bit. Don’t just mash the two colors onto the corners because this would result in a sloppy job. It is best to cut-in and mash the roller to the corners instead.

The Importance of Interior Design

Sunday, May 6th, 2018

Interior design is crucial in providing comfort and style.

You have probably already read a hundred or more articles about interior designs over the years. To many homeowners, it has become second-nature for them to seek the help of an expert called an interior designer. Some don’t bother to hire one but take on the design project on their own. But did you bother to think why you should fuss about interior design?

This overall stylizing of interior spaces matters because it has the capacity to change lives. This endeavor centers on building homes out of houses where families can feel comfortable in. The home, after all, is considered a sacred space where a person can rest from the weary days at school or at work.

There are a lot of homes, though, that are not optimized for comfort and relaxation. Of course, there isn’t a one-design-fits-all sort of project. So what does interior design actually affect?

Feelings

The way a person feels inside a home is totally affected by the design elements that are used. Just to prove this point, let’s look at just one aspect of interior design which is color. Many people know about color psychology and how every color evokes a different kind of emotion.

Color is far from simple. By itself, it has aspects such as brightness, hue, and saturation. There are different shades and tints to choose from, so, red isn’t just red. It can be fuchsia, magenta or crimson. It can be many other things as well such as a color that raises the pulse or it’s a warning color.

The way a person perceives color is also culture-based and sometimes dependent on how the person is as an individual. Colors can have different meanings in different cultures. Red can mean impending danger but it is also the same hue used to show romantic love on Valentine’s Day.

Space Functions

In homes, of course, the objective is for people to basically relax when they get there. This is a retreat of sorts for a lot of people. But if you begin to infuse other functions such as working from home, then you also begin to consider how the place can become a more productive space than when it was just your regular home.

In a restaurant, for instance, you would want to satisfy the customers as well as the owners of the business. For customers, you would want them to have a comfortable dining experience more than anything else. A lot of money is spent in designing restaurants so you have to invest also on the overall experience of your customers.

Walking into such an establishment means the customer should feel welcome. This can be achieved by using the correct color palette, furnishings, and furniture arrangement. The layout must also be done in such a way that the toilets aren’t too far away from where the customers are actually seated. The lights must also be designed correctly so that they are dimmed when you need a more romantic setting.

Depending on the kind of restaurant that you would like to set up, you should focus your energies in pleasing the customers. You would want each of them to come back because they had a pleasant experience apart from enjoying the meals that were served. In offices, on the other hand, your objective is to get the work done at the end of the day. This means carefully choosing the lighting fixtures that will increase the level of productivity among employees.

As for hospitals, you would want the patients to feel at ease in their rooms so that their healing time is significantly shortened. As for the doctors, nurses, and other staff, they must have rooms where they can work precisely and professionally. You should also consider their rest zones so that they can recover from a tiresome shift when they need to.

Setting Up the Hypnotic Café

Friday, May 4th, 2018

Canadel Living Room Square Coffee Table

The coffeehouse culture has become a part of the mainstream society. The cafes and coffee shops all have proven to be the perfect, successful models for purpose and profit. The social hubs have always been crucial in business circles and so businessmen realize the importance of blending both. Now known as the social enterprise business model, these shops are becoming more and more popular because they understand that there’s more to business than mere profit.

Social cafes, at least in Europe, are also often set up to empower people that are often excluded from work chances because of their learning disabilities, criminal records or even their homelessness. Those who have also struggled with drug abuse in the past tend to have barriers when it comes to employment.

The dynamic experience that is being offered in such a setting is what drives traffic into these shops, well that and caffeine.

Café History

But do you really know how this phenomenon started? TourRadar https://www.tourradar.com/days-to-come/history-of-cafe-culture/ records that Vienna was once renowned as the leading city in the whole world when it comes to coffee culture. The first few coffee houses from that city were spurred by the first café opened in 1683 by an Armenian spy called Diodato. This man became a member of the Viennese Imperial Court but was accused of spying for both the Serbians and the Hapsburgs.

It was during the turn of the 20th century when the Viennese coffee culture became even more popular. These shops became the social hub for journalists, writers, and artists. This day, the Johannes-Diodato Park is still a popular tourist attraction in Vienna.

If you want to explore the different versions of coffee that the Viennese can serve, then prepare to be surprised with the myriad choices. If you do this, you would surely gain a new level of respect for Viennese coffee culture.

Pair this MT Company Living Room Ottoman DG-40235-O with a plush couch and your coffee shop is going to be a blast.

Coffee Shop Essentials

As paying customers, we know what makes or breaks a coffee shop but when you’re the one drafting the business plan and you’re out scouting the best location, then you know that there’s a lot more to a coffee shop than just having the right name or a beautiful logo.

There are specific requirements per state, per business, but there is also a comprehensive list that could help you make your coffee shop set up a whole lot easier.

First, you need to know which equipment to acquire. First off, the espresso machine. This is your first equipment as an independent café. You also need to source the right coffee beans that would be processed by this equipment.

After choosing the espresso machine that will produce the most wonderful cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas, it’s time to boost your café’s revenue by selling the bestsellers like the plain, black coffee.

Another equipment that you need to have is the coffee grinder. The specialty drink customers may outnumber the regular coffee drinkers but this does not mean that you should ignore the needs of the latter. A good coffee grinder should accommodate the regular Joe.

You can also choose from airpots and brewers. Pourover machines and automatic brewers can also help you serve coffee more easily. You should also invest in smoothie and frappe blenders as well as tea dispensers.

Other needful coffee shop equipment include the reach-in or worktop refrigerator, under-counter ice machines, pastries display case, compartment sink, condiment rack, and dishwasher. As for the tools, consider having frothing pitchers, measuring cups and spoons, sugar pourers, syrup pumps, weighing scales, timers, and frothing thermometers.

Don’t forget the tea cups and coffee mugs. And, oh, the LED sign for your shop, too.

Café Furniture

Of course, you would want your customers to feel warm, cozy, and welcome all the time. Invest in the plushiest couches and chairs plus the right tables that would go with them. Since brown is the automatic motif, you can always go for furnishings in brown, red, yellow, green, black, and other such shades of nature.

The Humble Bookshelf and its Many Benefits

Thursday, May 3rd, 2018

Accessorize it right with the Uttermost Accessories Twist Modern Silver Bookends

The bookshelf has gone a long way from the time when it first appeared in history. Around the moment when codex was first recorded during the first century A.D., open shelves have also made their first appearance. These housed the cylindrical scrolls during that time plus the rectangular codex.

Texts were soon hidden and were stored in trunks, armoires, and just about any container that can help transport books. These were great for mobilization but not for their easy access. Unsurprisingly, in the next 1,400 years or so, books began to be shelved. According to Henry Petroski, who was a civil engineering and history professor, recorded that books have been stored in every possible way except having the spine out.

It wasn’t until the 1930s when bookshelves became prevalent since they were already being promoted by many book publishers.

A bookshelf is now seen as a necessary part of every living room, home office, and even some kitchens, and bedrooms. This one piece of furniture can make a room a lot better space to live in.
