Be sure to pack fragile stuff accordingly. Use bubble wrap or old newspapers to keep them from being damaged. Featured here is the Uttermost Accessories Agate Stone Silver Wall Art S/6 14555.
The exciting emotions of moving to a different place, especially in your dream home, can be a lot to take. This could result in anxiety when you’re not careful enough. There is so much to do, after all, such as packing all your smaller stuff in boxes, labeling them, and organizing the bigger pieces accordingly. Let this guide or checklist help you have an easy-breezy moving day.
Organize
There is nothing more important at this point in time than organization. Being organized ensures a flawless activity during that day. It is crucial that you make a list of specific items that will go in specific rooms. It’s also time to interview some professional movers and then be able to secure a date so that you would know how much time you have left to prepare.
Be sure to research the moving company especially about their fees (are there any hidden fees) as well as their policies. Ask about their insurance as well as whether they charge per box, by the distance or per hour.
Once you secure that date, start packing items daily. Make sure that the boxes are kept in a secure location. If you have to hire a cleanup crew, then this is also the time to start looking for professionals who can help you once the house is emptied or prior to your arrival in your new home.
You also need to consider whether you will need a place to stay for about a day or two or you would be moving directly to your new place.
If you also have children and pets, consider their needs.
Before you move in, make sure that the plumbing, water, and electrical works have already been done.
Throw
You would be annoyed to find a lot of unused items in your home. Soon you will see plastic bags containing stuff that you no longer use for years. It’s time to purge your drawers, attics, garages, closets, and the basement. If the items that you see will no longer be used, then give them away to willing friends or have them donated to charity.
For the rest, throw them in the garbage.
Pack
Though it’s a dreaded chore, it’s time. Do it with baby steps. The more packing time you have, the less stress you would feel about moving day. A preferable timeline is at least a month. You could also consider having the movers do the packing for you but know that there will be additional charges.
Have a moving binder. This is where you will keep track of all the things that you will pack. Organize important records before you begin packing anything else.
Begin by packing the least used stuff and then the most used ones should be packed last. Mark every box and mark them on all sides. Don’t forget to take measurements in your new home. This is so you won’t have to worry about moving large furniture pieces only to end up setting them up outdoors.
Be sure to have the needed packing supplies before you begin packing. You’d be needing scissors, packing tape, markers, newspaper, packing paper, bubble wrap (for those fragile items), and boxes (lots of ‘em).
Don’t forget to pack your suitcase for just a day or two. This bag should contain the essentials like medicine, toiletries, and a few pieces of clothing.
Notify
Prior to the moving day, make sure that you have already alerted brokerage firms, your banks, and the human resources department where you are employed. Check also your newspaper and magazine subscriptions as well as your utility and insurance billings.
Unpack
Lastly, unpack and enjoy your new home. You will be needing your moving binder so that you can now easily set up what you have brought with you.
