How to Doll Up a Tiny Bedroom

The Uttermost Lamps and Lighting Antrim 1 Light Bronze Sconce is the best decorative element for a room that retains its beauty while not eating up any space.

Small bedrooms are a tad trickier to dress up. If you’re not careful, you could even end up with a space that you detest. Yet with a little personality and a little spunk, plus much common sense, you should be able to make a small bedroom into a haven.

The typical master bedroom can easily accommodate a chest of drawers, cabinets, tables, ottomans, and a huge bed. The little bedroom, well, not so much. What you need to learn here is to make good use of every square inch.

Think of function plus aesthetics. So, what should you do?

Do It Boutique Style

Many boutique hotels have small rooms but guests are okay with it because the rooms are well-decorated. So go ahead and have padded headboards, add some plush carpeting and pillows, put some colorful throws. Throw in a duvet to make it more special.

If space allows, add a bedside table or two complete with small shelves.

The secret is to have a scaled-down luxury room in your home.

Decorate the Headboard

What’s a padded headboard if it remains boring? Use whatever limited space all around the headboard and decorate it with pictures of your family’s travels. You can also display books on floating shelves, have then color-coded to make it a more appealing sight to look at.

A gender-neutral scheme that’s easy to set up is the blue and green theme. Add these dominant bright colors to a neutral or white room. Just stick to two hues so that your bedroom will not look too cluttered or chaotic.

Two Bedroom for the Size of One

Do not always presume that a single, small bedroom will not be able to hold two beds. With just the right two single beds (the narrowest design that you could find). And always remember not to compromise on style.

To make the narrow bedroom work, consider having painted brickwork and a rug that adds a graphic-industrial sort of look. If you want to save on space, use wall lights instead of setting up a floor or table lamp.

All Eyes to the Accent Wall

Another thing to consider is adding an accent wall. This can help break the monotonous feeling that all four walls with the same color could bring. Paint your feature wall with a color that represents you. Just make sure that you don’t paint it with something that would excite you when you are supposed to be resting in your bedroom.

Amply Decorate

Having a smaller bedroom does not equate to having less decoration. An undersigned room is just as boring as a cluttered one.

Don’t hold your horses when it comes to bedroom decoration. Bring in the design elements that make bigger bedrooms worthy to look at. These include rugs, framed photographs, and decorative lighting.

No Ornate Handles Please

Never go for cabinets with ornate handles. What you have is a snug sleeping area so have a minimalist cabinet instead, preferably one that comes with a glossy finish.

Your bed should have the simplest frame so that it will take the least amount of space in your compact bedroom.

Design Laterally

While others would tell you to go vertical, hold your horses yet again. You can still design horizontally for as long as you have a dual purpose for the bulkier furnishings. For instance, a bed that doubles as a desk is an awesome addition to a small bedroom. So is a draw out bed from beneath the actual bed. ‘Think of sleepovers with your best friends.

That Reflective Surface

It’s called a mirror and it offers the oldest trick in interior design which is to make a room appear larger than it really is. Installing mirrors on your cabinet doors is a wonderful way to open up your bedroom space.
