Hooker Furniture has entered the game room category, introducing approximately 15 items including poker, card and game tables, game chairs, a counter height game table, bars, bar stools and a pool cue stand.
"The craze of celebrity poker on TV and the popularity of poker and game playing on college campuses and across America have created a demand for game room furniture," said Mike Spece, executive vice president, merchandising.

Styling is traditional, and most pieces are constructed of hardwood solids and cherry veneers with other mixed media including leather, black granite, etched brass and billiard-quality felt.
Game and poker tables are in a variety of shapes and sizes including round top pedestal, octagonal, hexagonal, counter height and square. Each of the tables has a reversible top; one side is a game surface while the other is a wood veneer top that can be used for an 8-seat dining table.

Functional features include a veneered wood edge with grooved cut-outs for chip and drink holders, felt surfaces, pullout work surface and wine bottle storage on the bars and casters and memory swivel on the chairs.
Price points will typically be $399-$499 for castered game chairs with memory swivel and $899-$999 for game and poker tables.
