Smart Hutch Offers Charging Station for Electronic Devices

In the old days, when we came home from work or school, we dumped our car keys and loose change on the counter and we were set for the night. But in today's information age, chances are we have an assortment of electronic devices such as cell phones, Blackberries and MP-3 players that need to find a perching place.

Addressing the need for a "communications central" headquarters for all our electronic devices, Hooker Furniture recently introduced the Smart Hutch. The optional hutch, which sits atop Hooker's new Danforth home office desk, features two interchangeable box drawers with false fronts. One drawer has a lift lid that flips over to reveal four top electrical outlets and two bottom outlets with power charging stations for storing cell phones, digital cameras and other electronic devices. Grommets are provided for wire management.
Beside the charging station is another functional drawer that includes a felt-lined jewelry tray.
"While today's electronic devices provide continual connectivity and convenience, they also create a lot of clutter and wires at home," said Kim Shaver, vice president-marketing communications. "Providing a centralized area for lining up the family's cell phones and other devices should provide organization, reduce the clutter and help everyone remember where their cell phone or IPOD is when they're ready to dash out the door."
The Smart Hutch will be available in Hooker Furniture authorized retail stores by late summer or early fall. |
