DREXEL HERITAGE COMBINES FASHION AND FUNCTION
IN URBAN DWELLINGS COLLECTION
New Designs Offer Storage Solutions for a Hi-Tech Society
High Point, NC (April 7, 2008) – Drexel Heritage introduces a new transitional collection at the current High Point Market that speaks directly to the needs of contemporary life. With youthful, innovative styling, Urban Dwellings addresses many of the storage and space requirements brought about by present-day technology.
“Urban Dwellings was created for today’s family; it was designed for the way we really live,” says Lenwood Rich, Drexel Heritage President. “We’ve built in comfort, convenience, and function…without sacrificing fashion.”
Stylistically, the nearly thirty designs follow unadorned, straightforward transitional forms. Fashioned from cherry veneers sparked with a shiny chocolate finish, the pieces are comfortable and inviting, yet striking and modern. But it’s the carefully calibrated engineering surprises that set the collection apart.
At every turn, you’ll encounter small features designed to make our electronically-dominated life easier. A double dresser has a drop-down drawer front to facilitate the passage of electronic signals from a plasma TV placed on top. Similarly, a plasma cabinet is fitted with sliding glass doors through which infra-red signals can be transmitted. Then there’s a box-on-stand that’s actually an ingenious charging station with outlets for juicing up cell phones, computers, and other must-have communication devices. The top lifts off should you wish to carry it into another room. A desk features a drop-down, pull-out drawer panel for computer keyboard and a sliding panel that conceals a charging station.
Other Urban Dwellings designs stand ready for flexible, hard-working service. A console converts into a dining table when the top flips up. A dresser has a bottom shelf for shoe storage; a door chest gets a secret compartment for valuables; and behind a sideboard door lies a wine rack for the stowage of potent potables. Yielding to today’s trend away from formal china cabinets, the collection includes slim, glass-door bunching china cabinets that may serve alone or with a twin in dining room, living room, or almost anywhere else in the home, while taking up only a sliver of vertical space.

Drexel Heritage Urban Dwellings -2-
The two Urban Dwellings beds are of special note. One has a headboard with open fretwork in a unique triangular pattern. The other has a softly curved headboard that may be upholstered in fabric or leather. Both exude a fresh, youthful and thoroughly modern appearance.
Urban Dwellings is unique in that it reflects all the richness, vitality, and innovation inherent in the American psyche. The designs are loaded with function and personality; youthfulness and sophistication—qualities that make the collection so relevant for today.
